π Apple and Banana Pie Recipe
Here's a delicious π recipe for baked Apples and banana π pie π₯§. The perfect combination of apples and bananas. Yum! Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of refrigerated pie crust (or homemade)
- 3 large apples (such as Fuji or Granny Smith), peeled and sliced
- 2 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Optional: whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven: to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the filling:
- In a large bowl, mix sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Toss to coat evenly.
3. Assemble the pie:
- Roll out the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish.
- Pour the apple mixture into the crust.
- Evenly distribute the banana slices on top of the apple filling.
- Dot the filling with small pieces of butter.
4. Top crust:
- Cover with the second pie crust or create a lattice pattern.
- Seal the edges by crimping.
- Cut small slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
- Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a shiny finish.
5. Bake:
- Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.
6. Cool and serve:
- Let the pie cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
