Dear Beloved,
I want you to know that we are living in End Times. Please don't get offended. We're so close, yet so far away. I had to share this with you...
The Call to Radical
Discipleship: A Clear Break with Modern Day Idolatry
To my brothers and sisters in Christ, a word of profound urgency is laid upon my heart...
We stand today at a crossroads, where the lines separating the Kingdom of God from the kingdoms of this world have become blurred, and in some cases, entirely erased. We are called to be the salt and the light of this world π, yet too many of us have become indistinguishable from the very culture we are meant to Transform.
This "Western world culture," with its relentless focus on consumerism, personal comfort, and the elevation of self, is not merely secular; it is, at its core, Pagan. Here's a suggestion to the Wise:
- Pick up the Holy Bible. Read it.
- REBUKE, RENOUNCE & DENOUNCE. Put DOWN ALL your idols.
- Forsake ALL idol worships, ALL idols and systematic beliefs, including participation in celebration of holidays including: Halloween π, Thanksgiving π¦, Christmas π π, and New Year's.
- Get to know the one TRUE God, the God of Israel. And MEAN IT!
It appears that it has simply replaced the idols of wood and stone back in biblical times with the idols of wealth, achievement, and autonomous desire.
The time for compromise and complacency is over. We must cease our participation in this spirit of the modern age and, from this day forward, live out the powerful, radical, and truly transformative life models by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Idolatry of Materialism, Prestige, and Comfort
The modern Western paradigm insists that satisfaction is found in acquisition and comfort. We are constantly striving for the bigger house, the faster car, the latest technology—a cycle that devours our time, our treasure, and our focus, leaving us perpetually discontent. This pursuit is in direct enmity with the Gospel.
The Apostle John issued a clear warning that cuts through the noise of our age and generation:
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world” (1 John 2:15-16, ESV).
When Christ walked the earth, He embraced simplicity, intentionality, and dependence on the Father. He owned nothing and commanded His disciples to do the same. He taught us the fundamental truth that defines our allegiance:
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money” (Matthew 6:24, ESV).
Our first act of biblical living must be a conscious, deliberate detachment from the lure of Western materialism. This is not about poverty; it is about posture—a heart that holds all possessions loosely, recognizing that every resource belongs to God and is meant for His Kingdom and the service of others.
The Counter-Cultural Call to Humility and Service
Modern culture is a monument to the self. It champions self-actualization, self-promotion, and the constant search for personal gratification. But this is the very opposite of the life Christ modeled.
Jesus, though being God, did not cling to power or prestige. He embraced the role of a servant, offering us the ultimate example of counter-cultural humility:
“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men” (Philippians 2:5-7, ESV).
If we are to live as Christ did, our focus must shift from being served to serving, from receiving to giving, and from seeking comfort to embracing sacrifice. Jesus left no ambiguity about the cost of true discipleship: “And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." (Mark 8:34, ESV).
Living biblically means our life is characterized by meekness, boundless love, and radical availability to the broken world around us, putting the needs of our neighbors and the will of our Father above our own ambition and desire for ease.
A Commitment to the Narrow Way
The ultimate choice is framed by Scripture: “Friendship with the world is enmity with God” (James 4:4, ESV). We cannot fully embrace the comforts, values, and idols of "the world" while claiming total devotion to the one who redeemed us from it.
The path of Christ is, and always has been, the narrow path.
Let us resolve this, starting today, to abandon the cultural currents that drag us toward spiritual compromise. Let us replace the hours spent consuming entertainment and pursuing worldly gain with fervent prayer, the study of Scripture, and acts of selfless service.
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. This is your commission: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2, ESV).
May the Holy Spirit empower us to live a life so radically separated, so deeply devoted, and so utterly saturated in the power and love of God, that our very existence becomes a powerful testimony to the truth of the Gospel.
Sincerely,
